Construction of The Pouch Cells

Pouch casing are generally used for Lithium Polymer batteries with a solid electrolyte which provides low cost flexible structure for the batteries as per the requirements from the device design. In thin batteries Electrodes and Solid Electrolyte is generally layered or laminated in a staked manner and is usually packed in foil envelopes. Solid electrolyte makes batteries safe and leak proof.

The foil structure of the batteries grants a lightweight and very thin battery design for high power applications and portable applications, but lack of hardness or rigidity in the enclosure makes the battery to easily expand as the temperature of the battery rises.
